The mission of Clarion Partners’ Research & Investment Strategy Group is to generate in-depth analyses, integrating local market fundamentals with national and global market trends.
At Clarion Partners, research is the foundation of portfolio strategy and transaction due diligence with rigorous, data-driven analysis supporting each investment decision. On a continuous basis, our research group reviews quantitative information on the 50 local markets and 220 submarkets we believe to be strongest for each major property sector, and employs proprietary modeling techniques to forecast local fundamentals.

Senior Vice President, Head - Research & Investment Strategy
Tim Wang – Senior Vice President, is the Head of the Research & Investment Strategy group at Clarion Partners. Tim leads the group in supporting the development of firm-wide and business unit-specific investment strategy, and advising on portfolio strategy utilizing proprietary analytics and econometric forecasting. He joined the firm in 2006 and is a member of Clarion Partners’ Investment Committee. Tim has published numerous real estate research articles and co-authored five real estate strategy books, including
Active Private Equity Real Estate Strategy (2009), Guide to U.S. Real Estate Investing (2009), Emerging Market Real Estate Investment: Investing in China, India, and Brazil (2010), Inside the Real Estate Fund Investor (2011), and Real Estate Mathematics (2011). He is a frequent guest speaker at real estate investment conferences.

CASSONDRA MEHLUM
Senior Associate
Cassondra Mehlum is a Senior Associate with Clarion Partners’ Research & Investment Strategy Group. Cassondra works on the analysis of both markets and assets, supporting the firm’s acquisition process. She also conducts research on markets in Mexico and Brazil. Cassondra has been with Clarion Partners since 2010.

DAVID GILBERT
Chief Investment Officer, Head of Acquisitions
David Gilbert, equity partner and Managing Director, is Clarion Partners’ Chief Investment Officer and Head of Acquisitions. He is a member of the firm’s Executive Board and Operating Committee, and is Chairman of the firm’s Investment Committee. David is also responsible for Clarion Partners’ Research and Investment Strategy Group, ensuring that research is fully integrated into all phases of the investment process.
David has extensive experience in real estate investment management including three years managing and restructuring CalPERS’ $8 billion real estate portfolio. He then became global head of real estate for JP Morgan Partners, the private equity arm of JP Morgan Chase, and later also assumed the role of Co-Chairman of the Peabody Fund, a $1 billion global real estate opportunity fund. David joined Clarion Partners in 2007 with responsibility for global opportunistic investing and was named Chief Investment Officer in 2010. He is a member and past board member of the Pension Real Estate Association and the Urban Land Institute.
